Five (5) suspected armed robbers have been allegedly arrested after being caught during a robbery operation in Kano.
Police said the suspects were arrested while when a team of police officers who were on intelligence-led surveillance patrol at Sharada Quarters, Kano Municipal LGA, intercepted a Tricycle conveying one passenger parked in front of the Residence of an Indian National suspiciously.
The police spokesman in Kano, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said, “on sighting the presence of the Police, the Tricycle rider Alhaji Musa, ‘m’, 45 years old, of Tudun Rubudi Quarters Kano attempted to escape, but the team shot at the tyre of the Tricycle.”
According to Kiyawa, the rider and one Onyekachi Jude, ‘m’, 19 years old, of Rinji Quarters Kano, were subsequently arrested.

He said the gunshot attracted the Armed Robbers inside the Indian National Residence, and in trying to escape, the following suspects were arrested;
(i). Moses Jude, ‘m’, 23 years old, of Rinji Quarters Kano
(ii). Sunday Titus, ‘m’, 20 years old, of Zoo Road Quarters Kano
(iii). Kyunle Bhago, ‘m’, 22 years old, of Sabuwar Gandu Quarters Kano.

Kiyawa noted that after interrogation, four suspects confessed that Moses, having stayed at the residence before, conspired with three others and went to the residence of the Indian National on several occasions, but the Police presence frustrates their efforts.
“However, they were trapped and arrested on their fifth attempt, with one suspect escaping with a robbed Mobile Phone, a sum of Fifty Thousand Naira (N50, 000:00), and a Hundred dollars,” he explained.

Items recovered according to the police statement include; One Honor Mobile Handset, one sharp knife, mask, one Infinix Computer Laptop, one Dell Computer Laptop, one iPhone 11 Pro Mobile Handset, one Modem, five hundred and thirty Rupees with denominations of eight 10 Rupees, two 100 Rupees, one 50 Rupees, and one 200 Rupees, one bag and other documents.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, has ordered for discreet investigation after which the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.
Sama’Ila also reiterates that criminals will have no hiding place in Kano State. They are advised to either repent or leave the State completely. Otherwise, they will be arrested and face the full wrath of the Law.
