Scores of armed bandits were allegedly neutralized, big herds of cattle were recovered and twenty (20) abducted victims were set free according to a statement released by DSP Wasiu A. Abiodun, the police public relations officer, Niger State police command.
In a press release, DSP Wasiu said that on the 12th of February, 2022, at approximately 1630 hours, armed bandits/terrorists invaded various communities in the Magama LGA of Niger State and rustled a huge number of cattle.

However, tactical teams from the Niger State police Command dispatched reinforcements to the vicinity to team up with Nigerian troops and members of the local vigilante group to deal with the rampaging armed bandits.

The joint military officers came in contact and engaged the armed bandits in a two-hour fierce gun battle along the Ibeto livestock route as the hoodlums attempted to flee with the cattle.
As a result of the superior firepower of the joint military personnel, scores of bandits were neutralized and a large number of rustled cattle were recovered.

In addition to military gains, about twenty (20) abducted victims were freed from captivity according to the statement by the Niger State police command.
The following items were also recovered from the bandits:
Seven (7) handsets, One (1) AK-47 magazine with 30 rounds of live ammo and one (1) Honda motorcycle.

In a related development, on January 13, 2022, at around 0700 hours, DSP Wasiu also revealed that agents from Nasko Division police station raided a known bandit hideout at Anaba hilltop, Magama LGA, based on solid intelligence.
According to him, During the successful operation, one (1) Ak-47 rifle was recovered. The assault rifle was allegely stashed between the rocks on the mountaintop with thirteen rounds of live ammunition.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Monday Bala Kuryas, fsi reiterates the commitment of the Command to rid the state of banditry activities and other criminality as he further solicits for cooperation and support of Nigerlites/residents towards ensuring a crime free society.
