In the early hours of today, the Anambra police command repulsed an attack on Nteje divisional headquarters in the Oyi Local Government Area of of the state.
According to reports, the police intervention was said to be in response to a distress call from the station, which was attacked by a deadly gang in the early hours of Thursday.

CP Echeng Echeng, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, is said to have led the counter-attack around 3 a.m that led to the killing of one of the gunmen, while the other members of the group took to their heels.
One type O6 rifle, one magazine, 53 live 5.56mm ammo, and charms were among the items recovered from attackers.

“One of the gunmen was neutralized during the gunfight, and the other attackers fled the area due to the superior fire power of the Police officers.”
“The station has been secured, and all police officers and weapons are intact.”
Since Prof Chukwuma Soludo took office as governor over three weeks ago, there have been a series of attacks on police stations and other government institutions in Anambra.
it would be recalled that yesterday, GallantMilitary reported that at least four Anambra Police officers were killed in an attack by unknown gunmen on the Atani Police Station in Anambra State’s Ogbaru Local Government Area.

Soludo has repeatedly stated that those responsible for the attacks will be held accountable.
However, while reacting to the latest attack, the CP complimented the officers and men of the Command for their tenacity and painstaking efforts to weed out all criminal elements in the State.
