The north-western Nigerian state of Kaduna continues to undergo numerous terrorist attacks. Kaduna State has suffered several attacks within the last month believed to have been organized by armed bandits.
In the latest attack which occured on Sunday, armed bandits reportedly attacked Hayin Kanwa village in the Yakawada ward of Kaduna State’s Giwa Local Government Area, killing at least 15 civilians.

The tragedy occurred just three days after around 50 persons were alleged to have been killed in nine villages in the same local government area.
The victims were buried on Monday, according to a member of the Kaduna Vigilance Service (KADVS) in Giwa who requested anonymity.

According to him, the situation in Giwa is deteriorating because people are being killed on a daily basis since Thursday.
“The situation is dire because bandits slaughtered 15 more people in Hayin Kanwa just last night (Sunday).”
“These criminals have been raiding villages and killing people since Thursday,” he claimed.
Another Giwa resident, Ridwan, told Daily Trust that bandits routinely raid the village.
“They came into the village and started shooting randomly, killing all these people.” “Do you know that the dead bodies couldn’t be evacuated till this morning?” he said.
He further stated that the bandits preferred to kill victims rather than kidnap them.
Another local informed Daily Trust that some of the victims were buried near Hayin Kanwa in Tashar Sharri, and that the death toll could rise.
