The Local Gvernment chairman of Adavi, in Kogi State, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami, led hunters to popular kidnappers’ hideouts around Osara, Aku, Irepeni, and Irapana along the Okene-Lokoja highway in Kogi State.
These aforementioned areas are known for armed robbery and kidnapping activities.
However, in order to support the state government’s efforts to reduce insecurity and protect the lives and property of the people of Adavi Local Government area, the Local Government chairman took it upon himself to join hunters and other security operatives in storming the danger zones.

Before they could catch some of the kidnappers, the local government Chairman spent hours in the bush with the hunters.
According to a statement released on the 9th December, 2021, by Engr. M. Jamiu Habeeb, SA Media and Publicity, Adavi LG, during the ensuing gun duel, three gang members were detained, while others fled with bullet wounds.

The incident, according to the statement occurred around 8 p.m. at Aku Farm Centre community in Adavi LGA, when suspected Fulani herdsmen came to the highway to carry out their nefarious act, but they were intercepted by local hunters who were still on duty at the time, resulting in the destruction of their notorious hideouts.

While praising the local hunters’ efforts and determination in carrying out their duties, Hon. Joseph Omuya urged all residents, particularly those in the farm areas, to be security-conscious and provide useful information to the appropriate authorities if they suspect any suspicious movements or see strange faces they are unfamiliar with.
The local government chairman of Adavi reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining his domain safe for residents and visitors, particularly during this festive season when the road is continually busy at all hours of the day and night.
