The bodies of four of the six victims of a boat accident have been discovered along the Otuan and Ayama towns of the Southern Ijaw Local Government Council in Bayelsa State.
Two of the four victims were identified as National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.
The boat accident, which happened around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, was reportedly caused by bad weather, poor visibility, and a lack of life jackets for the passengers, according to Channels Television.
The bodies of the deceased were discovered floating on Sunday night near the area where the accident occured, according to Ayama Community sources.
Comrade Ipigansi Ogoniba, the State Chairman of the Maritime Workers Union, acknowledged this, but said that two toddlers are still missing.
The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) officials have also been informed of the recovery of the corpses of the deceased female corps members, according to Ogoniba.
Meanwhile, Asinim Butswat, a spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, has disputed that the boat rider, Lucky Christopher, has been arrested.
Butswat claims that Lucky Christopher was simply invited as part of the accident inquiry procedures.
