APC ward chairman commits suicide shortly after arrest by NSCDC

The chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ponyan Ward, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi state David Ipinnaiye, has died.

Ipinnaiye is said to have committed suicide in a Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) cell.

Ipinnaiye was arrested by NSCDC officers and men for the attempted murder of his son, who was believed to be fraternizing with several youths who are supposedly involved in social vices, according to the Daily Post.

It was also learned that the deceased had attacked his son with a machete while on their to the farm, and that the incident was reported to the Civil Defense, leading to his detention.

According to sources who talked to Daily Post on the condition of anonymity, the late APC Chairman refused to respond to questions during investigation and was locked up in one of the security outfit’s rooms.

When the officers arrived to start interrogation, he had killed himself by hanging himself with his belt.

Attempts to confirm the event with Alex Agiri, the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC’s Kogi State Command, were unsuccessful because his phone was switched off.
