Terrorists have allegedly killed thirteen people including two security officers at Nasarawa-Burkullu and Kairu villages in the Maru and Bukuyum Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Zamfara State.
The fresh terror attacks and killings occurred between Sunday, May 15, and Wednesday, May 18, 2022.
The attacks, according to a resident, indicate “the highest level of insensitivity and recklessness on the part of the Nigerian government at all levels.”
According to HumAngle, the attack that took place at Takalafiya on Wednesday at about 6:00 a.m. (West African Time) claimed seven lives and was carried out by a terror group linked to Dogo Gudale, a notorious bandit kingpin in Bukuyum LGA.
In addition, the gang’s raids into neighboring villages, including Kairu, resulted in the rustling of 57 cattle.
“There is not a day that goes by without terrorist members invading into our towns and farms to slaughter, kidnap, or rustle the last animals we have,” Buhari Kairu, 37, a Kairu resident, told HumAngle.
They even enlist our innocent people, dragging them into their den for manual labor at Dogo Gudale’s farm, which we regard as slavery.”
Terrorists suspected of operating from Kachalla Shadari’s camp in Gando-Kairu forest attempted to rustle 135 cows at the Nasarawa-Burkullu Central Cattle Market on May 15.
A local, Bashar Musa Gummi, told HumAngle He described them as “teenage boys with firearms and deadly ammunition.”
“We must commend the Nigerian army for responding quickly to the terror organization during the attack. They drove them [terrorists] away and returned to the market with all the rustled calves.”
On the same day, another group attempted to rustle 200 cows in Ribah LGA, but neighbors alerted security personnel, who prevented the act in partnership with a vigilante group.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Shehu Muhammad of the Zamfara State Police Command confirmed the incidents and revealed that, “the Nigeria army in collaboration with the tactical unit of the Zamfara State Police is in top gear to end insecurity in the state and also to repel any impending attack on the innocent residents in the state.”
