Unknown Gunmen in Imo State are said to have killed an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Ukam Efut, and chopped off his private parts at a security checkpoint in Agwa, Oguta Local Government Area, on Tuesday evening.

The police officer was shot dead by the unknown gunmen before his manhood was severed, according to a source in the community.

The killers met Ukam and his colleagues at a checkpoint and opened fire on them, according to the source, who asked not to be identified.

“Mr Ukam was shot dead, and the gunmen took his penis and fled with it. One of the other two officers at the checkpoint sustained wounds on his face.

“The incident occurred at Okpo-Efi junction in Agwa, on the Ejemekwuru road. It’s terrible that they got away with the man’s private parts. The community has suddenly become a quiet place now.”

The incident was confirmed by the community chairman, Ekene Onyejiekwe, who told the Sun News correspondent that the dead police officer’s corpse had been deposited at an Owerri morgue.

When reached by phone, police spokesperson Michael Abattam confirmed the occurrence, but added that two of the attackers were also killed by police during a gunfight.
