Gunmen suspected to be terrorists, have attacked a Mosque at Maisamari town in Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State, killing one Alhaji Abdulkadir Maisamari, the district head of the community.
Maisamari was allegedly killed by terrorists during Ishai prayers on Monday night, according to witnesses.
The shooters are said to have opened fire as soon as they entered the mosque.
Brave residents were said to have confronted the terrorists, causing them to run into a nearby mountain.
Musa Sale, a local, informed Daily Trust that several brave residents confronted the gunmen, who were forced to flee.
He claimed that no one had been kidnapped and that the District head had been buried according to Islamic customs.
The attack in Maisamari takes the total number of mosques attacked in Taraba state to three in recent weeks.

According to the report, the attackers, numbering about 50, also abducted many worshippers from the mosque and took them to an unknown location.
Musa Sale, however said, Security personnel had already been dispatched in the affected districts.
