A video recently surface on various social media platforms where scores of armed Bandits blocked a major road.

In the over 2 minutes video, the gun trotting, Hausa speaking bandits can be seen singing and dancing and waiting for travellers.

Although the location or state where the video was shot is unknown, the security situation on most Nigerian highways, especially in the North Western part of the country has left travellers in fear, after several reports of the activities of armed bandits and terrorists on the roads.

Nigerian motorists have identified about 10 most unsafe and dangerous highways in the country, according to a study by Sahara Reporters, as travelers continue to risk abduction and armed robbery on the roadways.

Travelers have continued to express their dissatisfaction with an uptick in deadly attacks on major highways.

According to the study, one motorist in Niger State listed the Birnin-Gwari and Abuja-Kaduna highway as hotspots for kidnappings and armed robberies.

Another said the highways between Minna and Birnin Kebbi, Kaduna and Kano, and Sokoto and Gusau were the most dangerous.

Another motorist, a Kano State resident, stated he had seen bandits on the Abuja-Kaduna and Lokoja-Okene highways.

According to the study, the Jalingo road in Taraba State, the Keffi-Jos Road in Plateau State, the Keffi-Lafia Road in Nasarawa State, and the Benin-Ore road are all extremely unsafe for travelers.

The Akure-Owo-Akoko, Ondo-Owena, and Yenagoa-Port Harcourt highways are also well-known.

Road accidents are also very common on these roads, in addition to crimes, due to the slow speed or complete lack of maintenance.

According to reports, the poor status of the highways has made it easier for Armed Bandits, terrorists, herdsmen, kidnappers and armed robbers to carry out their criminal activities.
