At least 11 soldiers have been reportedly killed in a terrorist attack on a Nigerian military base in Polwire village, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
Several equipments were also said to have been damaged during the terrorist attack that lasted hours.
Report stated that aside attacking in large numbers, the terrorists were armed with heavy armament including RPGs, explosives and special weapons.
According to a source who spoke to SaharaReporters, the attack occurred on Monday.
The source claimed that the bandits arrived on motorbikes in huge numbers and fought the troops in a two-hour gun duel before being dislodged.
During the confrontation, three members of the Kaduna Vigilante Group also lost their lives.
Sahara Repoters said that military signal exclusively obtained by it’s correspondence confirmed the incident.
However, Nigerian troops are said to have mobilized heavy reinforcements and are currently on the trail of the bandits.
The terrorists also attacked villages in Kagarko and Kachia Local Government Areas of Kaduna State, according to SaharaReporters.
They killed 17 people in the four communities after kidnapping 22 others in the area of Angwar Ma’aji in Jere, Kagarko LGA.
This happened just 24 hours after Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), patrolled the Kaduna-Abuja highway.
Jere, which shares a boundary with Tafa-Sabon-Wuse in Niger State, is located on the ever-busy Abuja-Kaduna highway.
Shehu Bala, a resident of Angwar Maji who confirmed the latest attacks, said the incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Sunday.
He claimed that the bandits, who arrived in considerable numbers, broke into some homes and abducted 22 people, including five women.
