Terrorists reportedly abducted Nasiru Yari and Bashar Lawal Anka, both APC chieftains, and many other travelers on the Anka-Zuru federal highway in Zamfara, Northwest Nigeria, on Friday, April 1, 2022.
Yari, one of the abducted APC Chieftains was allegedly released a few hours later when his abductors received a ransom payment of N1.2 million, money Kasimu Anka explained Yari was carrying to Gusau for his business.
Kasimu, a relative to the kidnapped Yari who is APC chairman of Anka, Local Government Area (LGA), and Lawal, APC chairman of Magaji Ward of the LGA were together when the attack took place. Another person kidnapped was Kasimu resident Husaini Musa Barade.
HumAngle revealed in a news report that the terrorists operated between 7:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m WAT (West African Time) unhindered.

The highway connecting Anka to the Emirates of Gummi and Zuru in Kebbi State is one of the busiest commuter roads, especially on Fridays. Local traders rely on it to attend the weekly market days in Anka and Gummi.
Ibrahim Polo, 45, a commercial driver who travels from Gummi to Gusau through Anka on a daily basis, bemoaned the fact that he had to transport six passengers from Gummi to Gusau.
“When we arrived in Anka, we discovered approximately 100 colleague drivers parked in an abrupt parking position near Daki Takwas village.” This is because the terrorists have returned to the highway in an attempt to capture us,” he stated.
Isiya, a driver who drove from Nasarawa to Burkullu, said he had no choice but to return with his passengers.
