Former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s Son becomes a general in the Nigerian Army. The proud father was given a rare privilege to decorate the newly promoted son with new badges and rank of a Brigadier General.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, decorated his newly promoted son, Adeboye Obasanjo, with the rank of Brigadier General in the Nigerian Army on an historic event yesterday, Wednesday 19th January 2022, at the headquarters, Nigerian Army Engineer Corps, in Lagos.
Recall that A few years ago, boko haram terrorists almost killed Adeboye Obasanjo in the Northeast.
In 2014, the former President’s son, who was a Lieutenant Colonel at the time, was shot by Boko Haram terrorists in Baza, Adamawa State.
The terrorists reportedly ambushed a platoon led by Adeboye Obasanjo, killing 24 soldiers in the process.
Fortunately, Obasanjo, an army engineer with the 3rd Division in Jos, Plateau State, was just wounded in the leg by gunshots.
The event commemorated the son’s recent promotion in the Nigerian Army from Colonel to Brigadier General.
Former President Obasanjo, who himself served in the Nigerian Army Engineer Corps during his military days, was also honored for an historic homecoming.
His son is a member of the Army’s Engineer Corps just like his father.
The military authorities granted the former President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria a rare privilege to decorate his son with his newly acquired promotion of a Brigadier-General at the Nigerian Army Engineers Corps Headquarters in Bonny Camp, Lagos.
Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, Towulade of Akinale Kingdom of Egbaland, accompanied the former President to the event.
Brigadier General Adeboye Obasanjo, the newly promoted soldier, holds two master’s degrees and other professional certificates.
In addition to studying in Nigeria and overseas, Brigadier General Adeboye Obasanjo also served in the Nigerian Army in numerous formations and divisions, holding various positions.
