Soldiers Mistakenly Shot And Killed 2 Teenage Sisters While Chasing Fulani Men

Soldiers allegedly shot 2 teenage sisters to death in the market in Kidenda, a village in the Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, causing confusion.

According to witnesses, the soldiers were driving by the marketplace when they came across some strange men on motorcycles and challenged them.

The lifeless bodies of the 2 teenage sisters during the burial rites.

When the villagers heard gunfire purportedly fired by the troops towards the men, they took to their heels. The 2 Teenage sisters, Nurayn, 16, and Khadija, 11, were hit by stray bullets as they attempted to flee the scene during the ensuing commotion.

Salisu Shuaibu Kidanda, their older brother, told Daily Trust that they were killed by the bullets fired by soldiers into the crowd.

“Even if they (soldiers) were shooting at the Fulani they saw in the market, why would they fire into the crowd?” My sisters were hit by stray bullets as they were attempting to run home from the market which was on the outskirt of the village.

‘As we speak, the soldiers have yet to pay our parents a visit to express their regret for their actions; only the police have done so.’ “You can’t just kill innocent girls and walk away,” he added, adding that justice must be served.

Another resident claimed that the soldiers shouldn’t have fired at the market because the Fulani men they were pursuing fled into the bush.

The victims’ photos were obtained by Daily Trust before their funeral prayer in the community.

When contacted, Colonel Ezindu Idimah, Deputy Director, Army Public Relations Officer, 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, stated he had been relocated to Abuja and referred Daily Trust correspondents to contact Lieutenant Shehu, who was unavailable at the time of writing this report.
