2 Kidnappers Strangle 13-Year-Old Boy To Death For Failing To Produce His father’s Phone Number

2 Kidnappers have been arrested by the Niger State Police Command for the killing of their 13-year-old victim identified as Yasir Salisu.

The police public relations officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed this in a press release on Monday the 1st day of August, 2022.

He said after receiving a report of a missing 13-year-old boy identified as Yasir Salisu, Police operatives attached to Tafa Division on a reasonable suspicion arrested two suspects identified as Usman Sabiu aged 22 and Nafiu Umar aged 18, both residents of Hayin-Nasarawa, Tafa local government area of Niger State.

He said during a rigorous and painstaking interrogation, Usman Sabiu confessed to have conspired with Nafiu Umar and abducted the missing child to the resident of Nafiu with the intention of collecting one hundred thousand naira ransom (N100,000) from the victim’s father.

Unfortunately, he claimed that the victim could not produce the father’s contact number to demand for ransom and both suspects were identified by the victim who are neigbours; hence, the victim was strangled and killed by the suspects.

DSP Abiodun said, In the course of investigation, the suspects led Police operatives to a river bank in Hayin-Nasarawa where the deceased was buried in a shallow grave; however, the corpse was exhumed and deposited at Umar Yar’adua Hospital Morgue for autopsy.

He said the case is under investigation and the suspects will be arraigned in court for prosecution as soon as investigation is concluded.
