A young woman who had separated from her husband went to his house, lured his 4-year-old son out, and threw him inside a well, killing the boy. This incident occurred in a community in Katsina State.

Jamilu Rabi’u, a four-year-old kid, was allegedly killed by the woman, Maryam Habibu, an 18-year-old resident of Leko Village in the Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State, who threw the boy into a well out of apparent rage.

It was gathered that the lady went to the house of her former husband around 10:00 p.m., succeeded in luring the boy out of the house into a nearby area where she was said to have thrown him inside a well, causing the death of the boy.

According to a statement on the incident by the state police command through its Public Relations Officer, Isah Gambo, and posted on his Facebook page on Saturday, the case was reported to the police command and the lady was promptly arrested.

She was said to have confessed committing the offence and the statement added that more investigations are ongoing after which she is expected to be charged to court.

“On 09/11/2022 at about 2200hrs, the succeeded in arresting one Maryam Habibu, ‘F’, aged 18yrs of Leko village, Danja LGA of Katsina state, an Ex-step mother, that killed her step son, one Jamilu Rabi’u, ‘M’, aged 4yrs of Illallawa village, Kafur LGA, by throwing the boy into a Well.

“The suspect went to the house of her ex-husband and lured the little boy into a nearby area and threw the deceased into a Well.

“In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to the commission of the offence. Investigation is ongoing.”
