In a scanty statement, the Nigerian Army said;
“Due to the Renewed Military Onslaughts by gallant troops of Operation Hadin Kai, 17 BokoHaram terrorists including their family members surrendered with their weapons earlier today to troops of 151 Task Force Battalion deployed at Banki-Junction in Bama LGA of Borno State. Profiling of the surrendered terrorists is ongoing.”

At its height, Boko Haram controlled huge swaths of territory in Northeast Nigeria. The Nigerian security forces has been working for years to oust the group from cities and towns.
Between 2011 and 2022, Boko Haram was responsible for thousands of deaths in Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. Nigeria is the country most affected by the terrorist group’s attacks. States in the North-East register the highest number of deaths. Borno is by far the most threatened state, in that, Boko Haram has caused over 35 thousand deaths in this area.

Dear gallant officers of the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Police. I commend you for all your effort while some of you have even paid the ultimate price of losing their lives in your effort. But please beware of these so called “surrender” and cautious so that these surrendered Boko Haram will not turn back to hit you hard again after they have gained your confidence. You too can see now many claiming to be for you but are actually very much against you. Please beware and beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing amongst your rank and file.
